Diabetes 101: Medications & ADEs in Nursing Homes

This event will take us back to the basics of diabetes and its treatment. Diabetes medications are considered high-risk in the Medicare population. However, their use is still needed. During this presentation, we will discuss medications available to treat diabetes, signs and symptoms of hypo- and hyperglycemia, common adverse drug events (ADEs) and tips to prevent ADEs related to diabetes medications.

- Summarize issues that can occur with diabetes medication use in long-term care.
