Opioid Prescriber Support Program
The Opioid Prescriber Support (OPS) program provides evidence-based education, outreach, and technical assistance to help eligible prescribers strengthen opioid stewardship, improve chronic pain management, and reduce opioid-related risks.
Designed to meet prescribers where they are, OPS offers practical tools, individualized support, peer learning opportunities, and access to clinical expertise focused on safe prescribing, non-opioid and non-pharmacological pain management options, overdose prevention, and connections to evidence-based treatment and recovery supports. Through this collaborative, patient-centered approach, OPS helps advance safer care for Medicare beneficiaries while supporting prescribers in making clinically appropriate decisions.
The goals of the OPS program are to:
Educate and provide outreach to outlier prescribers about best practices for prescribing opioids
Educate and provide outreach to outlier prescribers of opioids about non-opioid pain management therapies and non-pharmacological alternative pain treatments
