Each month, Alliant hosts an array of virtual educational events for Nursing Homes, Community Coalitions, Clinicians, Hospitals, and Medicare Beneficiaries in support of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Network of Quality Improvement and Innovation Contractors (NQIIC) and Quality Payment Program Small, Underserved, and Rural Support (QPP SURS) initiatives and goals.

Remote Patient Monitoring: AdventHealth’s SARS-CoV-2 Response and Outcomes

Join us to learn about one health system’s experience implementing remote patient monitoring (RPM). This approach has helped to provide a safe transition of care for patients suspected of having COVID (PUI) and COVID positive patients who were discharged from the ED. When properly implemented, remote patient monitoring prevents avoidable readmissions. Together, we will learn about the elements of an effective RPM program used during COVID and consider the potential for future RPM use in helping to manage patients with chronic diseases.

Signs of Opioid Addiction: Screening Tools to Assess Opioid Use Disorder and Referral to Treatment

This session will provide participants with information about the disease of opioid use disorder (including the elderly population); opioid pharmacology; stigma and drug addiction; harmful consequences of opioid abuse and basic approaches to prevent and treat opioid use disorders. The importance of universally screening patients for substance use disorder and opioid use disorder will also be discussed. Participants will gain an understanding of the SBIRT model and knowledge of the tools used in identifying and assisting patients in primary care or other settings, who are at risk for mild, moderate, or potentially excessive use of alcohol, opioids, or other drugs.

Opioid Use Best Practices

In this workshop, participants will learn about the trends associated with prescribing opioids for pain. The current guidance information on how to prescribe and monitor the use of opioids will be presented. Participants will also learn about effective prevention strategies that decrease the negative consequences associated with opioid misuse and overdose. Prevention strategies currently being utilized across the country will be explored and discussed. Participants will also be given an opportunity to discuss some of these trends with colleagues and get many of their questions answered about opioid misuse.

In this session, attendees will learn key information about opioid use prevention, national and state (Louisiana) opioid overdose data, how to correctly use NARCAN (Naloxone) and Good Samaritan Laws specific to Louisiana. The presenter will also provide resources for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment in Louisiana and answer questions from attendees.

The Science of Pain: Evidence-Based Approaches to Treatment

This online workshop will provide an overview of the neurobiology of pain. Specific areas of the brain that process pain will be presented. Participants will also learn how opioids are used to treat pain and the limitations of this strategy. In addition, the multitude of evidence-based approaches to treat pain will be a focus of the workshop. Each participant will get an opportunity to actively participate in the workshop.
