Each month, Alliant hosts an array of virtual educational events for Nursing Homes, Community Coalitions, Clinicians, Hospitals, and Medicare Beneficiaries in support of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Network of Quality Improvement and Innovation Contractors (NQIIC) and Quality Payment Program Small, Underserved, and Rural Support (QPP SURS) initiatives and goals.

Patient Safety Network Series: ADE Anticoagulants & Glycemic | Nov. 30, 2021

Beginning November 2021, Alliant Quality and our HQIC Partners are continuing the Patient Safety Network series. These 30-minute sessions will provide resources to support improvement in the specific areas listed below. Subject matter experts and quality improvement advisors will offer guidance, resources and tools to enable participants to identify and develop action plans that address gaps and drive improvement. Remote Patient Monitoring: AdventHealth’s SARS-CoV-2 Response and Outcomes

Join us to learn about one health system’s experience implementing remote patient monitoring (RPM). This approach has helped to provide a safe transition of care for patients suspected of having COVID (PUI) and COVID positive patients who were discharged from the ED. When properly implemented, remote patient monitoring prevents avoidable readmissions. Together, we will learn about the elements of an effective RPM program used during COVID and consider the potential for future RPM use in helping to manage patients with chronic diseases.

ED Affinity Group: Managing Simultaneous Disasters in a COVID-19 World

All long term care facilities have experienced an infectious disease pandemic of worldwide proportions in 2020 – 2021. Many facilities also experienced natural disasters and/or man-made disasters while managing COVID-19 at the same time. Core emergency preparedness and response actions are the same between COVID and natural and/or man-made disasters and many are different. This discussion will highlight the range of natural and man-made disasters faced by the seven (7) states while simultaneously managing COVID. We will consider the differences in response approaches and the similarities.

Opioid Use Best Practices

In this workshop, participants will learn about the trends associated with prescribing opioids for pain. The current guidance information on how to prescribe and monitor the use of opioids will be presented. Participants will also learn about effective prevention strategies that decrease the negative consequences associated with opioid misuse and overdose. Prevention strategies currently being utilized across the country will be explored and discussed. Participants will also be given an opportunity to discuss some of these trends with colleagues and get many of their questions answered about opioid misuse.
